If
you’re looking for an opportunity to reduce that income tax bite, you
might consider the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credit. NAP
is a state-authorized tax credit designed to let tax-payers direct
a portion of their income tax dollars to specific local programs that
serve low-income Hoosiers.
CANI has been awarded NAP tax credits by the Indiana Housing &
Community Development Authority (IHCDA). For every NAP dollar you give to
CANI ($100 minimum), you receive 50 percent of the contribution as a direct
tax credit on your state income taxes. Unlike a deduction,
NAP credits are applied to the
Indiana
state
tax liability – the
bottom line taxes a person owes after all deductions are taken.
Additionally,
because CANI is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable
organization, a NAP contribution may also be taken as a federal tax
deduction. (Consult your tax advisor for advice about your particular
situation.)
Your
NAP donation to CANI will be used to support the Family Development
program in Allen, DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, and
Whitley
counties.
Tax credits are limited and can only
be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. If credits are available,
then there are two forms that are required with your donation: the IHCDA
Tax Credit Short Form and the Neighborhood
Assistance Tax Credit Application (Form NC-10.)
Contact Jennifer Renner, (260) 399-4103, to confirm credit availability.

Donations received now will be applied to your 2009 tax liability. CANI
cannot take pledges for NAP credits. Cash, checks, credit card
payments,
and gifts of stock are accepted.

credit, contact Jennifer Renner at (260) 399-4103.
