Megan came to CANI in 2000, a single mother needing help with childcare bills. She was determined to turn her life around from a series of misfortunes including marital abuse. Megan was working and attending school, but paying for baby sitters was nearly impossible on her limited budget. CANI’s Child Care Assistance was just what she needed.
“With the help of CANI’s child care program I have completed my associate’s degree in computer software technology and also my bachelor’s degree in business administration,” Megan told us. “I was able to qualify for a job that has better benefits and has brought me to being almost self sufficient with my finances.”
CANI helps mothers like Megan make dreams a reality through the child care assistance program. CANI is the intake agent for Allen, DeKalb, Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, and Whitley counties. That means that people who are interested in applying for child care assistance in those counties must apply through CANI.
Parents must be working, going to school, or receiving job training to qualify for this program. The Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) allows parents the opportunity to maintain employment and complete educational goals without the overwhelming financial burden of child care costs. The family must be Indiana residents within income guidelines and have a child below the age of 13.
